The All Day Face EP is my very first ever official solo release.
Some of the songs will likely wind up on the long gestating upcoming solo album (note the reference to that in the cover artwork), but I'm honestly not sure which ones at this point. I hope this is the first in a series of EP's that will precede the full-length album.
Three of the songs included here are more uptempo and closer to power-pop than the last songs from The Critical Darlings, which were more in the classic rock or epic rock style. If you preferred that style, have no worries. The upcoming album should have those, too. To start fresh, though, I wanted some poppy, peppy, and (God help me) maybe even some jaunty tunes.
The fourth song here is the home recording of a ballad called "Everything Must Go" that was inspired after a series of deaths among my family and friends. Sitting out on a back porch in the rain one summer evening with an acoustic guitar brought this song out.
All in all, I hope it's a fun album and gives a little taste of what's to come. Don't get too comfortable with the sound as I will definitely be stepping outside of my comfort zone as I get deeper into the new recordings.
Oh, and these tracks are the first that I've ever played the drums on in the studio. It's been fun working toward actually doing that after all these years, and I figured that I'll indulge in it while I'm still considering the prospects for a new band.
As always, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
and let me know what you think!
